Privacy Policy

KantaNa ("the app", "we", "us") is a collaborative karaoke web app. A host screen displays a YouTube player; guests join from their phones to search and queue songs. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.

Information we handle

• Display name — the nickname you type when joining a room. It is shown next to songs you add and is kept only in the live room's memory on the server. It is not stored in a database and is discarded when the room ends.
• Room codes & song queue — the 4-letter room code, the current song, and the shared queue. These exist only for the life of the room and are not retained afterward.
• Search queries — text you type to find songs is sent to the YouTube Data API through our server to return results. Results are cached on our server to reduce repeated lookups. Queries are not linked to your identity.
• Local storage — the host screen stores its room code in your browser's local storage so it can reconnect after a refresh. You can clear this at any time via your browser.

We do not require accounts, and we do not collect your email address, password, phone number, or precise location.

Cookies and third-party services

The app relies on third parties that may set their own cookies and process data under their own privacy policies:

• YouTube / Google — video plays through the official YouTube IFrame Player. Your use of the embedded player is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
• Google AdSense — we use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalization at Google Ads Settings and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Consent (EEA, UK & Switzerland)

Where required, visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent message (via Google's certified consent management platform) before personalized ads are served. You may consent, decline, or manage your choices there, and you can change your selection at any time.

Server logs

Our server may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and to operate the service. These are not used to build advertising profiles.

Children

KantaNa is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Don't enter a real name when joining — any nickname works.
• Manage or reject ad personalization via the consent message or Google Ads Settings.
• Clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
